The short version: Apple Watch is a smartwatch that also reads your health. Sisly is a ring or band made only to read your health, with no screen.

Apple Watch vs smart ring: what is the real difference?

The real difference is what you want on your body all day and all night.

A smartwatch has a screen. It shows the time, your messages and your apps, and it lets you start a workout or answer a call from your wrist. The screen is also what uses most of the battery, so a smartwatch needs charging often.

A smart ring has no screen. It reads your body through sensors on the inside of the ring and sends the readings to an app on your phone. With no screen to power, a ring can last days between charges and can stay on through the night.

Neither shape is right for everyone. The rest of this page is about which one fits your days.

What is Apple Watch in 2026?

Apple sells three Apple Watch models in the UAE this autumn: Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Series 12 and Ultra 4 went on sale on 18 September 2026.

All three need an iPhone. Apple says they need an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 27 or later, and that Apple Watch is only compatible with iPhone.

On health, Apple lists a sleep score, nightly wrist temperature tracking and heart rate variability in the Vitals app on current models. Series 12 and Ultra 4 add the ECG app, which Apple does not list on SE 3. Some of Apple’s health features depend on regulatory approval country by country, so check Apple’s feature availability page for the UAE before counting on a specific one.

What is Sisly?

Sisly is a titanium smart ring or band from the UAE. It is AED 999, paid once, with no subscription.

Sisly reads sleep, energy, stress, heart rate variability, activity and skin temperature, and reads each against your own normal. Heart rate variability, or HRV, is the variation in time between one heartbeat and the next; a 2017 review in Frontiers in Public Health describes it as a window on how the nervous system regulates the heart.

Sisly lasts about 7 days between charges. Readings are hosted in the UAE, the app is in Arabic and English, and Sisly works with iPhone and Android. It is available to pre-book.

What does each read, side by side?

The table covers the health readings each company lists. It leaves out features that depend on country approval.

Sisly also reads energy, stress and activity against your own normal. Apple Watch tracks activity and workouts in its Activity and Workout apps.

A smartwatch reads more things, and has a screen to show them. A ring reads fewer, with the aim of being worn without a break. Sisly is not a medical device and gives general information about your day and night. Some Apple Watch features, such as the ECG app, carry regulatory clearance in certain countries; Apple’s feature availability page lists where.

What does each do best?

Apple Watch does its best work as the one device on your wrist for everything: messages, calls on cellular models, apps, workouts with a screen to glance at, and health readings in the Apple Health app. If you live inside the Apple world, nothing else ties in as closely.

Sisly does its best work as something you forget you are wearing. A titanium ring or band with no screen, it stays on through the night and through the week, and reads the things that change slowly: sleep, energy, stress and HRV against your own normal.

How long does each battery last?

Apple gives up to 18 hours for Apple Watch SE 3, up to 24 hours for Series 12 and up to 50 hours for Ultra 4.

Sisly lasts about 7 days between charges.

The number that matters is when you charge. A watch that lasts a day has to come off at some point in every day. If that point is the night, the watch misses your sleep. If it is the morning, you need a routine that fits around it. A ring that lasts a week comes off once a week.

Which is better for sleep tracking?

Both read your sleep. Apple Watch gives a sleep score on current models, and Sisly reads sleep as one of its six signals.

What often decides it is whether you will wear the device to bed. Some people are happy sleeping in a watch. Others find it bulky, or take it off to charge at night. If you are one of them, a ring avoids the problem by being small and lasting the week. We look at this in more detail in the Apple Watch alternative for sleep, and in hot months, in sleeping through a Gulf summer.

What does each cost over three years?

Add up the device and anything you pay after it, then spread it over the time you will wear it.

  1. Take the starting price from the table at the top of this page.
  2. Add any subscription you would pay for. Apple Watch health features need none. Apple Fitness+ is optional; add it only if you would use it.
  3. Divide by 36 for a monthly figure over three years.

For Sisly, the three-year cost is AED 999 with nothing to add.

For Apple Watch, two costs are easy to miss. First, it needs an iPhone, which matters if you use Android. Second, if you plan to keep the watch for three years, check Apple’s battery service terms for your model before you buy. For a wider view, see smart ring prices in the UAE.

Can you wear both?

Yes, and some people do: a watch by day for messages and workouts, a ring at night for sleep, so the watch charges while they rest. The two readings live in separate apps unless one shares with the other, so check how each handles your data first.

Which one suits you?

Choose Apple Watch if you use an iPhone, you want messages, apps and calls on your wrist, and you are happy to charge a watch most days.

Choose Sisly if you want to pay once and nothing after, you would rather not wear a watch to bed, you use Android or might switch, or you want your readings kept in the UAE and an app in Arabic.

Consider both if you like your Apple Watch by day but want your nights read without charging worries.

Where does Sisly sit among other rings?

If a ring is the shape for you, Sisly is one of several. Our guide to the smart rings on sale in the UAE compares them on price, subscription, battery and phone support, and Samsung Galaxy Ring vs Sisly covers the ring that suits Samsung phones.

Questions, answered

Does Apple Watch work with Android phones?
No. Apple says Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch SE 3 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 need an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 27 or later, and that Apple Watch is only compatible with iPhone. If you use an Android phone, Apple Watch is not an option. Sisly works with both iPhone and Android.
How long does the Apple Watch battery last?
Apple gives up to 18 hours for Apple Watch SE 3, up to 24 hours for Series 12 and up to 50 hours for Ultra 4. At up to a day, SE and Series models need charging about daily, so sleep tracking means finding another time to charge. Sisly lasts about 7 days between charges.
Does Apple Watch need a subscription for health features?
No. Apple Watch health features such as sleep score, heart rate and wrist temperature come with the watch and the Health app. Apple Fitness+, Apple's workout service, is an optional paid subscription available in the UAE, and Apple says you only need an iPhone to use it. Sisly has no subscription: you pay AED 999 once.
Can I wear a smart ring and an Apple Watch together?
Yes. Some people wear a watch by day for notifications and workouts and a ring at night for sleep, so the watch can charge while they rest. Readings from the two devices sit in different apps unless the ring's app shares data with Apple Health, so check how each app handles data before you pair them.
Is Apple Watch available in Arabic?
Apple lists Arabic among the languages supported on watchOS, including an Arabic keyboard and Siri in Arabic for Saudi Arabia. The exact features available depend on your region and settings, so check Apple's feature availability page for the UAE. The Sisly app is in Arabic and English.
Which is more comfortable for sleep, a watch or a ring?
Comfort is personal. A ring is smaller and has no screen that can light up at night, while a watch sits on the wrist and many people take it off to charge. If you do not like wearing a watch to bed, a ring is the shape to consider. Sisly comes as a ring or a band.
